JAMS Policies and Procedures
Tuition: For the 2008-2009 School Year (September through June), the cost for enrollment in private lessons is $120 per month for half-hour lessons or $205 for hour lessons for guitar, bass and drums. All other instruments are $100 per month ($185 for hour lesson). This reserves a 30- or 60-minute lesson, once a week, on the same day and time for every week in the month. Usually this equals four lessons in a month, but sometimes five. Four lessons in any given month will be considered a complete month, there are no make-ups of any kind if a lesson is missed by teacher or student in a fifth week.
Payment: Payment may be made through:
- AutoPay: tuition is automatically deducted from a banking account or credit/debit card monthly.
- If you do not wish to use AutoPay, you may elect to pay for the current semester (Sept. - Dec. or Jan. - June, or whatever remainder there is when enrolling after the start of the semester) in its entirety and in advance.
Two-for-One Lessons: If the students and/or parents choose, lessons may be taken together with a friend or family member for the cost of one tuition fee. This will only applicable if students are at the same experience level or are starting out at the same time. The teacher will have the final word on student compatibility for this type of lesson. If the two students are from different families, each family will have separate accounts and will be responsible for their payment of half of the normal tuition fee.
Labs: Guitar Lab and Drum Lab are a unique group learning and musically social experience. Students may bring something specific to work on, or may chose to work on what others are doing. Lab attendance is free to all students enrolled in lessons. Lab may also be used as a ‘make-up’ for student absence.
- Guitar Lab: Wednesdays 6:30 – 7:00pm & Saturdays 10:30 – 11:00am.
- Drum Lab: Wednesdays 5:30 – 6:00 pm.
Absences: Absolutely no make-up lessons will be given for student absences unless 24-hour notice is given to JAMS. Make-up lessons will be limited to two per school year, and at JAMS discretion, may not be taught by student’s regular teacher. No refunds or credits will be given for student absences.
If a teacher is absent, Jams will provide, whenever possible, a substitute instructor. If no instructor is available, the lesson will be cancelled and a $30 credit will be issued.
Withdrawal: There is a two-month minimum enrollment for all lessons. One-month notice from the first of the month is required to discontinue any class. Withdrawal must be done in person and will not be accepted over the phone. Withdrawals must be done at the front desk and not with a teacher. No withdrawals will be accepted after MAY 1st.
To withdrawal from lessons a parent or adult student must: (1) inform JAMS in person at the front desk and (2)
complete and sign a withdrawal form provided at the front desk.
JAMS reserves the right to terminate lessons to any student without notice. In this case, a refund will be given for the remainder of lessons paid for.
NSF Fee: There is a $30 non-sufficient fund transaction fee for returned checks or other NSF transactions.
Weather: In the event of inclement weather, Jams will follow Carroll County Public Schools with respect to closure. If Carroll County Schools close, Jams will close. In the event that weather creates hazardous travel conditions after school has already let out for the day, Jams may still close. Notice will be posted on the website and phone message whenever Jams closes for inclement weather. When in doubt, check the website or check our phone message. If your class is cancelled due to weather, a credit will be issued for that lesson.
Legal: Parents, legal guardians of minors, students and adult students waive the right to any legal action for any injury sustained on JAMS property resulting from normal lesson activity or any other activity conducted by the students before, during or after lesson time.
Photo Release: Parents, legal guardians of minors, students and adult students give JAMS permission to use any photographic or video images obtained on JAMS property in whatever way JAMS deems necessary in the promotion of JAMS (ie. photos or videos of students for printed ads, website posting, etc.)
